I am very grateful to the Vice President of the Council of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Antonio Tajani, for appointing me as his Special Envoy for Cybersecurity and head of the Farnesina's Technological Innovation and Cybersecurity Unit.
It is an honor and a responsibility of great importance, especially at a historical moment when cyber and AI, along with growing hybrid threats, are profoundly transforming international politics and have broad repercussions for national security.
The impact of emerging technologies on geopolitics is undeniable. Artificial intelligence is not only revolutionizing how information is collected and analyzed, but also offers new opportunities to strengthen international relations and promote cooperation between countries. In this context, the development of quantum computing is a crucial strategic factor, as it has the potential to radically change computing and security capabilities, significantly affecting global competitiveness and diplomatic dynamics.
In addition, digital data security has become a key priority for our Country System. Protecting sensitive information not only safeguards national interests, but is also essential for ensuring public trust in government institutions and processes.

At the UN in New York to lead the Italian delegation to the ninth session of the Open-ended Working Group on security of and in the use of information and communications technologies.
The security of cyber space is a priority issue for the government, and it is essential to strengthen international cooperation mechanisms to address the increasingly frequent and changing threats that can put at risk the critical infrastructures and IT systems of Italy's businesses and institutions and other countries.
